NextGen Year 2 [Character Concept Artist Focus]

For my Year 2 I am wanting to focus a lot onto character concept design and concept art for characters. To do this I will need to improve as well as learn some new ways of drawing in different styles. I really like the cartoonist style that Overwatch has in its game as well as Blizzards Project Titan(which was rumored to be remade into what Overwatch is today). I will need to adapt my skills to become more comfortable with the cartoon design and look as I am used to drawing semi-realistic. By the end of the second year I would like to get very strong at doing character concept art and I would like to dabble a bit into character modeling.

Doing this NextGen course is one of the best parts as it helps me develop further into the job field that I want to be in.

Model [Doomhammer Model]

So today we decided to do some more 3d modeling. The models could be of anything we like of any genre so I decided that because I have played World of Warcraft in the past and it is a game I enjoy I decided to model one of the weapons in the game. The weapon i chose was Doomhammer which happens to be very nice model and has some nice detail in the model. The picture I chose to help: As you can tell the model looks quite difficult however a lot of the detail in the model can just be done with texturing the only part I could worry about or just not have on the model is the cloth above the hilt that sticks out but we shall see what happens when it comes to me texturing the model. My model so far: The shape of my model is looking very similar to what the original looks like and I am enjoying making the model as this is definitely developing my skills in 3ds max as well as texturing. I will be updating this post with every time the model is updated.

Synoptic Project Update

Since the last post the group has managed to fix the communication issues we had by coming together and having a group meeting in which we discussed the issues we have been having as a group and making sure we sorted them as soon as possible because we are not that far away from the deadline for this project so this is the time where we can't really have anyone doing just nothing as we need to get the environment done. We made sure everyone has a job to do. My personal update is that after we had the team meeting I have managed to figure out what is needing to be done and what I personally have to do in this project, so now that I know what I need to do I have sorted the issue of me feeling like I was getting left behind as some of the group continued to just do the project themselves instead of communicating with the rest of us to get this fixed.
